Tweeted Fares Don't Exist!

I follow @flyfromLAX on Twitter. More often than not, when I click on a deal you guys Tweet to actually search for flights in the date range you Tweeted about, the price that comes up is way more than the one Tweeted. This isn't a case where I put in specific dates and the fare doesn't match the one Tweeted. The search returns EVERY day for the entire month you guys Tweeted, and not a single one displays the fare Tweeted.

And this is clicking within 1 minute of the Tweet being posted, so please don't tell me it must have sold out already.

I found a similar question in this forum about never being able to find fares as low as the ones FareCompare lists. If, as you say, the airlines don't actually offer the lowest prices they post, why do you get our hopes up by telling us about them? It's really making me lose faith in FareCompare as a reliable source of low-fare information, and I'm going to have to stop recommending you guys in the travel books I edit.

  • The price you see in the first calendar is the absoulte cheapest price that has been 'filed' by airlines. Once you complete your search, FareCompare queries to find seats available at that price, and unfortunately, it is quite common to find that seats are simply not available at the lowest filed price.

The issue you have encountered is not uncommon, but abundantly frustrating.

One tip, it is not uncommon to search very quickly right after you receive a tweet and not find the price right away. Because FareCompare tweets in real-time, on occasion inventory updates may not have reached reservations systems. Try waiting another few minutes, try again and I've found that you may indeed find a seat at the price you were tweeted.

Inquired LAX-BCN for October 17-24th. Search results show $1020 as the lowest price, but the FareCompare range in the upper right corner shows $7xx as the lowest, not sure why I cant get the lower priced results
